Job Description

Atwater's is a well-established traditional bread bakery known for its commitment to baking high-quality sourdough and yeasted bread. Using simple, raw ingredients such as flour, water, and salt, Atwater's produces artisanal bread in large quantities, handling up to 1000 kilograms of dough daily. This sets a unique standard in the bakery industry emphasizing quality, craftsmanship, and consistency in every loaf. The bakery prides itself on maintaining its traditional methods while balancing efficient production to meet customer demand across various locations. Behind the scenes is a dedicated team that contributes to baking excellence in an energetic, fast-paced, and physically demanding environment where attention to detail and a passion for bread making are essential.

The role of a Baker at Atwater's is a full-time position that involves preparing and baking bread and related products according to the bakery's established quality standards. This position requires working primarily four 10-hour shifts, mostly standing and on your feet, reflecting the physical nature of the job. Bakers are responsible for mixing, rounding, dividing, shaping, scaling, proofing, and baking dough to ensure consistency in daily production. Given that baking conditions can vary daily, the baker needs to adapt and manage oven temperatures and times accordingly to maintain the bakery’s high standards. The ability to work with large quantities of dough, perform physical tasks like lifting 50-pound bags of flour, and manage shifts mainly scheduled from Monday to Saturday, including weekends with flexible hours that may extend late into the night, is crucial.

In this role, communication plays a vital part in maintaining a positive company image. Bakers are expected to work cohesively with their team, coordinate schedules, share updates on bread quality, and address any production issues promptly with supervisors or managers. Furthermore, the role demands strict compliance with health and sanitation procedures to ensure a safe and clean workplace. Bakers also help minimize food costs by reducing overproduction and waste while ensuring that all bakery equipment and work areas are cleaned thoroughly after use.

Atwater's offers a supportive work environment for individuals who thrive in teamwork but are also capable of working independently. The bakery values punctual attendance and reliability given the nature of shifts and production schedules. Ideal candidates for this position should also be willing to obtain or already hold a Serve Safe certificate, underlining a commitment to food safety.

This bakery role is perfect for someone who enjoys the artistry and craft of traditional bread making, can handle physical demands, and wishes to grow their career in a respected bakery setting that values quality, consistency, and teamwork.
