The Branch Manager position in Frederick, MD offers a rewarding opportunity for individuals seeking to lead in a dynamic retail environment dedicated to industrial gases and welding supplies. This role centers around overseeing day-to-day retail shop operations, including managing safety standards, retail sales, warehousing, and distribution activities. The Branch Manager leads a diverse team comprising Counter Sales, Warehouse staff, Drivers, and Customer Service employees, ensuring effective coordination and communication across all functions.
Operating Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4:30 pm, this full-time position offers a competitive salary range between $70,000 and $80,000 per year. The Branch Manager will execute responsibilities encompassing safety compliance, sales growth, inventory control, marketing plan collaboration, and operational expense management. Collaborating with both inside and outside sales teams and vendors, the manager will drive sales penetration and promotional activities while ensuring accurate order scheduling and delivery. Inventory duties include managing hard goods receiving, inter-branch orders, physical inventory counts, and maintaining showroom and warehouse standards.
This leadership role demands strategic planning skills with a focus on resource allocation, goal setting, and performance tracking to meet organizational objectives. The Branch Manager is also responsible for employee training related to company standard operating procedures and safety regulations, as well as partnering with hardware vendors for ongoing product training. Financial oversight includes reviewing daily SAP reports and conducting daily cash reconciliations, ensuring operational accuracy and efficiency.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of five years of experience in sales and/or distribution of gases and welding supplies or similar industrial products
- Two years of prior demonstrated management or leadership experience
- Demonstrated planning skills including identifying requirements, allocating and effectively using information, personnel, time, and other resources
- Ability to establish appropriate courses of action, develop evaluation criteria, tracking systems for monitoring goals, and specifying objectives, schedules, and priorities

Job Duties
- Directly manages the day to day branch retail operations including safety, retail sales, warehousing and distribution
- Leads and manages a team consisting of Counter Sales, Warehouse, Drivers and Customer Service employees
- Assists with development and execution of marketing plans to support the penetration of key market segments in collaboration with Sales and Operations teams and outside vendors
- Coordinates sales promotion activities, merchandising and displays and opportunities for Airgas-wide conversions
- Manages inside sales, sales growth and sales margins
- Collaborates with outside sales to ensure order accuracy and properly scheduled customer deliveries by Airgas trucks
- Manages branch inventory, daily hard goods inventory cycle counts and maintain showroom and warehouse appearance
