The Branch Banking Management Military Apprentice (SAFE) role is part of the Consumer Banking and Lending division within Wells Fargo’s National Branch Network. This position is uniquely designed to transition military experience into a leadership role in retail banking. The apprentice will be responsible for managing and developing a diverse team, fostering a culture of engagement and accountability geared towards achieving business results. The role focuses on leadership, customer engagement, operational excellence, and adherence to compliance standards. Apprentices will participate in a U.S. Department of Labor accredited Apprenticeship program that combines on-the-job training, coursework, and mentorship to prepare them for a full Associate Branch Manager role.

This position involves a strong customer-facing component, including assisting with banking transactions, coaching teams to enhance customer experience, and driving business growth. It requires compliance with the SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act, also necessitating SAFE registration and ongoing adherence to related regulatory standards. Job Requirements

  • Enrollment into Wells Fargo’s DOL Registered Apprentice Program
  • SAFE registration required at the time of employment
  • Must meet Consumer Financial Protection Bureau qualification requirements
  • Successful background investigation and ongoing regulatory compliance
  • Current or previous military experience
  • Ability to comply with Wells Fargo policies, procedures, and employee expectations
  • Ability to meet Loan Originator regulatory requirements under Regulation Z
  • Commitment to uphold drug-free workplace policies
  • Ability to follow Wells Fargo’s risk and compliance program obligations

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years of finance or budgetary experience or equivalent military experience
  • Military experience in any branch of service including Army, National Guard, Air Force, Space Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, or Reserves
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • Experience in customer-facing military roles
  • Knowledge of personnel benefits management, military personnel orders, wartime readiness operations, human resources, or military recruiting
  • Proven leadership skills including coaching, training, and team development
  • Strong relationship-building skills with customers and internal partners
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivation with high initiative and accountability
  • Ability to work effectively in team environments and across organizational levels
  • Integrity and professionalism in interacting with customers and team members
  • Effective time management, independent judgment, and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in navigating multiple computer systems and utilizing search tools
  • Understanding of compliance controls, risk management, and loss prevention
  • Relevant military experience with military protocol, evaluations, and leadership reporting
