The Boutique Manager position at Halekulani embodies this tradition by overseeing and directing the daily retail operations of the Halekulani Boutique, Halekulani Bakery Retail Section, and the Halepuna Retail Corner. This role is vital in maintaining the hotel’s luxury brand reputation by ensuring excellence in service, sales performance, and brand presentation. The Manager plays a key role in creating a memorable and refined guest experience, aligning retail strategies with the broader objectives of the hotel’s brand identity and financial goals. This position involves close collaboration with the Boutique Director as well as external retail consultants to optimize merchandise assortments, support buying strategies, and ensure that retail operations perform efficiently with accuracy in inventory and adherence to visual merchandising standards.

The role requires hands-on leadership skills, including supervising, coaching, and developing a high-performing retail team focused on accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement. The Manager is responsible for staffing, labor cost control, inventory management, loss prevention, and compliance with company policies. Retail operations at Halekulani necessitate a balance of strategic planning and daily operational oversight to ensure that merchandise selection meets guest expectations while fostering an engaging and inviting sales environment. This includes responsibilities such as vendor relationship management, attending trade shows, pricing and inventory accuracy, sales analysis, and employee performance management.

This full-time role requires a candidate with experience in retail management, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, professional, and capable of maintaining a poised image while delivering positive customer interactions. The Manager will work closely with multiple hotel departments and uphold the hotel’s renowned service standards to ensure that guests receive superior service in every retail interaction. The position also demands flexibility in schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays, to meet operational needs. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
  • Minimum three years of retail sales and/or customer service experience
  • Minimum two years of managerial or supervisory experience
  • Liquor Commission Card
  • Ability to operate point-of-sale systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to maintain positive customer and employee relations
  • Knowledge of inventory taking and reconciliation
  • Ability to work without daily supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to resolve complaints and ensure customer satisfaction

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with the Boutique Director and retail consultants on merchandise selection and seasonal buying strategies
  • Oversee the buying process and maintain vendor relationships
  • Attend trade shows as needed
  • Place and manage vendor orders using RetailPro software
  • Implement visual merchandising standards to maintain brand consistency
  • Update POS system with accurate product, pricing, and inventory information
  • Coordinate merchandise transfers between departments
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve guest concerns promptly
  • Maintain boutique appearance and organization
  • Analyze sales trends and optimize product assortment
  • Monitor inventory levels, shrink prevention, and operational efficiency
  • Identify and correct pricing discrepancies
  • Conduct monthly physical inventories and reconcile POS records
  • Prepare sales and inventory performance reports
  • Oversee shrink control and loss prevention efforts
  • Submit inventory reports timely to the Assistant Controller
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable for vendor invoice processing
  • Report top-selling items monthly to management
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and uphold brand standards
  • Supervise and motivate retail staff with training and performance feedback
  • Manage staffing schedules and labor costs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
