Job Description

The Indigo Road Hospitality Group (IRHG) is a prominent hospitality company founded in 2009 by Steve Palmer, dedicated to transforming the hospitality industry by cultivating an environment where people come first. IRHG operates over 30 locations, offering a diverse range of roles within the hospitality sector, all unified by a culture that values care, growth, and community. At IRHG, hospitality is not just a job; it is viewed as a family, a lifestyle, and an ongoing journey where employees are empowered to grow internally and thrive professionally. The company boasts generous benefits and opportunities that ensure team members are supported both personally and professionally, promoting a workplace that is known for its heart and dedication to service excellence.

The role of Bourbon Steward / Barista at IRHG is a unique and multifaceted position that blends specialty coffee preparation, bourbon education, retail service, and hospitality into a single, elevated guest experience. Based within the Farm & Market Gift Store, this position requires the team member to prepare specialty coffee beverages with precision, lead bourbon tastings with confidence and professionalism, and provide curated retail assistance to guests. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about hospitality, storytelling, and product knowledge and who thrive in dynamic environments where interaction with guests is a daily priority.

Responsibilities include crafting espresso and specialty beverages according to established recipes, ensuring consistency and high quality in every drink served. The Bourbon Steward / Barista also manages guest interactions with a high level of knowledge about bourbon, educating guests on its history, flavor profiles, production methods, and recommended pairings. Serving alcohol responsibly and maintaining compliance with local and state regulations is a critical aspect of the position. Beyond beverage preparation and tastings, the role involves retail responsibilities such as supporting visual merchandising, managing inventory levels, and presenting market products in an inviting and organized manner.

The position demands strong guest service skills, an ability to communicate clearly and professionally, and a friendly, welcoming demeanor that helps create personalized guest experiences. Operational duties include maintaining cleanliness and organization of the coffee and retail areas, managing equipment maintenance issues by reporting them promptly, and assisting with daily operational needs to ensure smooth business functions. Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential for this role due to the nature of the hospitality industry.

This role is perfect for those who have prior barista experience or a strong interest in bourbon, coupled with a willingness to learn extensively. IRHG values individuals who can confidently engage small groups, lead educational tastings, and contribute positively to a fast-paced, rewarding work environment. The Bourbon Steward / Barista position offers a competitive salary and benefits package and the chance to be part of a dynamic, growing hospitality team focused on making a lasting impact in the industry.
