With over a century of service, Goodwill GWNYNJ has continuously supported people in securing employment, maintaining stable jobs, and advancing their careers throughout New York and Northern New Jersey. The organization firmly believes in the strength derived from diversity, innovation that comes from varied perspectives, and an inclusive workplace environment where every employee feels respected, valued, and empowered to make meaningful contributions. This commitment to diversity and inclusion drives Goodwill's mission to unlock potential within communities and promote positive social change.
Goodwill GWNYNJ operates as a charitable organization primarily engaged in collecting donated goods, sorting and preparing them, and then selling them in retail stores. The revenue generated supports workforce development and training programs that help individuals gain skills and secure employment. The organization’s focus on sustainable fashion ensures that items are reused and recycled, reducing waste and supporting environmental goals.
The role being offered is a critical production position within the organization, designed for candidates passionate about hands-on, fast-paced work environments. This position is focused on receiving donated goods and preparing them efficiently for retail sale. Responsibilities include sorting, tagging, pricing, and placement of merchandise on the sales floor. The role demands physical stamina, as it involves standing for long periods and handling items that can weigh up to 50 pounds. Maintaining a well-organized stockroom, adhering to quality control standards, and following safety protocols are essential functions to ensure smooth operations and a safe work environment.
Candidates will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic retail setting that supports Goodwill’s broader mission of community betterment through employment creation and skill development. Flexibility in work hours is required, as the establishment operates daily from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, Monday through Sunday. Goodwill provides thorough training and protective equipment to address health and safety concerns related to handling pre-owned merchandise, which may contain allergens or dust.
In addition to offering a meaningful job with a mission-driven organization, Goodwill GWNYNJ provides a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees. These benefits include performance-based incentives, tuition reimbursement, medical and dental insurance, paid time off, mental health resources via Headspace, and retirement savings plans with employer match. Through this role, employees contribute to an impactful cycle of giving, receiving, and community upliftment while gaining valuable experience in retail and production operations.
Goodwill GWNYNJ prides itself on challenging the status quo and fostering an environment where employees can bring their authentic selves to work. The organization encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply, even if they do not meet every qualification listed. The role offers a rewarding career pathway with the opportunity to help individuals in the community thrive and participate in a sustainable system that benefits everyone involved.
