The Boston Food Pantry Manager role is a full-time, hourly position located at 1033 Massachusetts Avenue in Boston. This position involves managing outreach and federal programs including SNAP Outreach and Nutrition Outreach, and implementing these programs within the Boston Food Pantry as well as supporting other distribution initiatives like the Boston Public Schools/Grove Hall initiative, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center Satellite Pantry, and Head Start Initiatives. The manager also supervises daily outreach operations, provides at-home food delivery, and works closely with volunteers and partners to increase Red Cross visibility in the community.

This position emphasizes leadership, program development, and collaboration with internal staff and external partners to meet program goals effectively. The role requires occasional travel and a willingness to drive a 20-foot box truck. Candidates should possess strong organizational and communication skills, experience managing volunteers, and proficiency in Microsoft Office software. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop project plans and budgets
  • In-depth knowledge of program or service
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity and ethics
  • Ability to create presentations and training modules
  • Intermediate MS Office proficiency
  • Ability to work on a team
  • Occasional travel required
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Willingness to drive a 20-foot box truck

Job Duties

  • Implement and participate in the development of initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program or service delivery
  • Advance assigned programs or services to meet goals and objectives
  • Act as a program or service subject matter expert to staff, management, volunteers and external partners
  • Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers
  • Manage outreach activities and federal programs like SNAP Outreach and Nutrition Outreach
  • Supervise day-to-day outreach operations in the Boston Food Pantry and other program distribution efforts
  • Provide at-home food delivery services
