Job Description

Dish Society Heights is a vibrant, community-focused restaurant committed to delivering high-quality food crafted from fresh, local ingredients. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and dedication to doing things the right way, Dish Society emphasizes sustainability, seasonal menus, and an inclusive culture that values every member of its team. As a leader in the casual dining industry, the brand is recognized not only for its delicious dishes but also for its strong team-first culture that integrates both back-of-house and front-of-house operations seamlessly. At Dish Society Heights, the commitment to excellence extends beyond food to fostering a professional and positive work environment where employees can thrive and grow.

The Back of House (BOH) Leader role at Dish Society Heights is designed for experienced kitchen professionals who are passionate about leadership and hands-on cooking. Unlike traditional supervisory roles that may distance leaders from daily operations, this position calls for a working leader who actively participates in line shifts while managing critical kitchen functions. Full-time employment with open availability is required, typically spanning 45 to 50 hours per week including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Compensation is hourly and commensurate with experience, with details discussed during the interview process.

The BOH Leader acts as the backbone of kitchen operations, responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation. This role demands a proactive leader who can effectively coordinate kitchen flow in real time by managing ticket times, team communication, and positioning to ensure seamless service. In addition to managing the pace of the kitchen, the BOH Leader provides direct coaching and development to team members, reinforcing recipes, operational standards, and efficiency best practices.

Other core responsibilities include inventory awareness and support for ordering, all aimed at keeping the kitchen fully prepared and organized for service. The BOH Leader also plays a vital role in kitchen readiness through opening and closing procedures that ensure cleanliness and compliance with sanitation standards. Partnering closely with front-of-house leadership, the BOH Leader helps to guarantee a positive guest experience through strong coordination and problem-solving during service.

Dish Society seeks individuals who embody their values of hospitality, pride, growth, and connectedness. Ideal candidates are calm and decisive under pressure, reliable, detail-oriented, and natural coaches who lead by example while staying engaged on the kitchen line. They understand the rhythm of the restaurant industry and demonstrate a dedication to quality and team development. Being at least 18 years old with substantial kitchen experience is required.

Joining Dish Society offers more than just a job – it means becoming part of a growth-minded environment with real opportunities for career advancement into higher leadership roles. Employees benefit from continued professional development in a kitchen culture they can be proud of. The company provides valuable perks such as leader meal cards, medical benefits, and 401(k) options, supporting both immediate wellness and long-term financial security. Working at Dish Society Heights means aligning with a meaningful mission focused on quality ingredients, local sourcing, and doing things the right way, all while contributing to a team-first environment that values every individual.
