Job Description

The Boathouse, situated at lake level in The Edgewater's historic Langdon Building, offers a unique dining experience reminiscent of a coastal setting. This restaurant is renowned for its diverse menu, featuring items such as Mahi fish tacos and Wisconsin favorites including Stella's bun chicken BLT and Clock Shadow cheese curds. As the only restaurant in downtown Madison directly on Lake Mendota, The Boathouse not only serves Madison locals but also caters to guests of the beautiful 4-Star Edgewater hotel. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Available for a minimum of 3 shifts per week with flexible scheduling including nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and management
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to resolve customer issues or complaints
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently
  • Physically able to carry food trays, deliver drinks, and lift up to 50 pounds including beer kegs
  • Willingness to work in kitchen areas when required and operate restaurant equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Previous bartending experience of one year or more in casual or fine-dining settings
  • Experience in food and beverage service within a hotel or resort setting is a plus
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Positive and caring attitude with a desire to provide memorable experiences
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Knowledgeable in various liquors, beers, and wines
  • Ability to obtain any necessary government-required licenses or certificates

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve drinks accurately to customers at the bar and for dining room service
  • Maintain bar inventory and cleanliness consistently
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to multiple tables simultaneously
  • Collaborate with dining room and patio staff to ensure smooth service flow
  • Take and customize orders according to guest preferences
  • Operate standard restaurant equipment including point-of-sale systems
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations during service
