Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, renowned for delivering exceptional guest experiences and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. Aloft Hotels, a vibrant and modern brand under Marriott International, is designed to be a hub where guests can connect with others and the surrounding community. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, Aloft offers a unique atmosphere with contemporary design and a focus on creating memorable stays for guests whether they are in town for business, leisure, or social connections.
The role available at Aloft Hotels in Providence is that of a Bartender (Barman) in a part-time, non-management capacity. This position requires not just proficiency in preparing drinks but a deeper commitment to crafting a unique and memorable experience for every guest. The bartender is envisioned as a dynamic host of the bar, embracing evolving market trends and guests’ changing needs with enthusiasm and expertise. This role demands personal ownership of guest experiences, extending beyond the bar to engage with the hotel staff and local community.
In this position, the bartender leverages their knowledge and effort to ensure the bar operates flawlessly in both presentation and function. Building relationships within the hotel and community is paramount, as is a passion for guest satisfaction, attention to detail in handling transactions, and pride in the quality of beverages served. The bartender must adhere to company policies, maintain confidentiality, protect company assets, and uphold the highest standards of quality, personal appearance, and professional communication.
Moreover, this role requires physical endurance and agility since the job involves standing, sitting, walking extensively, and performing tasks such as lifting and moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance, kneeling, reaching, twisting, stretching, and bending. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering their best work and contributing to the success of both the guest stay and the business.
Specially desirable aptitude includes a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least one year of related work experience. Although supervisory experience is not required, the role prizes a proactive attitude, passion for service, and teamwork. Working at Aloft Hotels means joining a vibrant team that celebrates diversity and inclusivity while pushing creative boundaries and connecting with the local community.
Marriott International champions an equal opportunity workplace, one that welcomes and embraces diversity of backgrounds, talents, and experiences. This commitment extends to non-discrimination based on disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics as defined by law. Aloft Hotels stands as a place for confident, self-assured individuals unafraid to break the mold and engage authentically with guests and colleagues alike. Joining Aloft means stepping into your best work, fulfilling your purpose, and becoming part of an incredible global team dedicated to transformation and excellence.
