The position at Amcor Rigid Plastics involves crucial responsibilities within production operations that contribute directly to the manufacturing process of plastic packaging. This role encompasses operating blending systems by staging raw materials, including resin, and preparing mixture formulas that involve virgin plastics, regrind, and colorants. Candidates will engage in activities such as operating blenders, performing quality inspections, managing regrind materials, and handling packaging duties as needed, all while adhering to strict safety and quality processes. The job requires physical stamina as it involves heavy lifting, moving finished goods, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the workspace. The role supports continuous production flow by collaborating with packers and maintenance teams, ensuring customer orders are fulfilled effectively and efficiently.

Employment for this position is full-time with a starting wage of $21.35 per hour. Job Requirements

  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and enter information accurately into an online database
  • Strong mathematical ability
  • Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and visual defects
  • Proficient hand-eye coordination to operate equipment
  • Ability to make independent judgments and prioritize tasks
  • Computer proficiency
  • Willingness to work all shifts and required overtime
  • Capability to perform heavy physical labor including lifting up to 100 pounds and standing/walking on concrete floors
  • Ability to bend, twist, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, and use a pallet jack
  • Ability to multi-task across multiple production lines

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of Material Services or Operator experience preferred
  • Previous experience with assembly, hand packing, and visual inspections
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Basic math, computer and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of plastics, colors and additives preferred

Job Duties

  • Adheres to Amcor Rigid Plastics safety and quality policies and procedures
  • Receives instruction from previous shift Material Services and current shift Quality Technician to determine required material formulations
  • Collects virgin, regrind and colorant materials to prepare formula mixtures
  • Places pre-determined amounts of materials into a drum secured on the blender
  • Activates the blender following safety and manufacturing instructions
  • Visually inspects the mixture for even blend
  • Delivers the drum to the appropriate machine
  • Performs regrinding activity and dumps full bins into regrind drum
  • Inspects regrind for contamination and reports findings
  • Removes excess production and stores in the production area
  • Reports non-conformance reports as necessary
  • Performs safety checks and preventative maintenance on blender
  • Supports packing duties including inspecting moving bottles for defects, placing acceptable bottles in shipping containers, and managing non-conforming products
  • Performs color and material changes without supervision
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and hazard-free work area
  • Completes all other duties as assigned
