The Utility Associate role at HMSHost is essential to maintaining the cleanliness and operational efficiency of the food service environment. This position is hourly, starting at $21.55 per hour, and involves various responsibilities that ensure sanitary standards and smooth back-of-house operations. As a Utility Associate, you will play a key role in cleaning equipment, utensils, workstations, floors, and ensuring that all tools and products are properly stored and maintained. The role also involves checking and replenishing supplies such as ice, keg beers, bib sodas, and CO2 containers, loading and unloading supply trucks, and following strict company safety and security procedures.

This non-exempt position demands a hands-on approach and physical stamina, requiring frequent bending, twisting, lifting up to 40 lbs, and immersion of hands in water and cleaning solutions. The Utility Associate must possess a positive attitude, be able to interact enthusiastically with coworkers and the public, and efficiently follow instructions and policies. Job Requirements

  • Ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs
  • demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner
  • requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents
  • frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous experience in a similar role is an asset but not required
  • ability to interact positively with the public and coworkers
  • strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • good physical stamina and ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • basic reading and comprehension skills to understand instructions and policy documents

Job Duties

  • Cleans equipment including work tables, refrigerators, and meat blocks
  • cleans utensils, pots and pans by hand washing or dishwashing
  • returns clean utensils, pots and pans to their proper places
  • removes trash and garbage to designated areas
  • sweeps, mops, scrubs and buffs floors using heavy equipment
  • cleans walls, windows and steam cleans trashcans
  • stocks, dates, rotates and checks temperature of product
  • transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or hand truck
  • loads and unloads supply trucks
  • follows all security and safety procedures established by the company
