Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior cooking or food preparation experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Basic understanding of kitchen equipment use
  • Food handler’s certification preferred
  • Ability to follow food safety protocols
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar cooking or kitchen role preferred
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to follow recipes and standard operating procedures accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Consistently prepare, cook, portion all food according to Black Bear Diner recipes, procedures and standards
  • Comply with all food safety requirements such as checking and maintaining temperature, dating and labeling products, rotating products so that oldest is used first
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, stoves, ovens and refrigeration equipment
  • Handle, store and rotate all products properly
  • Complete sidework for station and shift
  • Close the prep and bake areas correctly
  • Follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations
  • Assist others in closing stations and the kitchen
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty
