Job Description

As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a dedicated and personable Host/Hostess to join our team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our dining service and plays a crucial part in shaping the first and lasting impressions of our guests.

The Host/Hostess position is a full-time role focused on hospitality and customer service within the restaurant industry. The primary responsibilities include greeting guests warmly upon arrival, managing seating arrangements based on guest preferences and service flow, and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the dining areas. Additionally, the Host/Hostess will assist the service team by relaying messages and helping to keep service stations stocked and organized. This role also demands efficiency in handling take-out orders through our point-of-sale system, processing payments, and ensuring that guests leave with a positive impression by thanking them and inviting them back. The position requires a friendly demeanor combined with excellent communication and organizational skills to manage guest flow smoothly and respond promptly to any seating requests or special accommodations. The successful candidate will be flexible, willing to assist wherever needed to support the restaurant's overall operations, and proactive in executing side work duties at the start and end of shifts. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a customer service role preferred
  • basic knowledge of point-of-sale systems
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • strong organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Greet all arriving guests warmly and promptly
  • accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible
  • seat guest guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations
  • when immediate seating is limited, record guest names and number of people in party
  • provide guests with estimated waiting time
  • call out name and number of party when tables become available
  • upon seating, offer guests a menu
  • inspect table for proper presentation and completeness
  • relay messages to servers as needed
  • maintain clean entrance, lobby, dining room, and restrooms
  • assist servers in maintaining and stocking service stations
  • clean and reset tables promptly
  • clean chairs, booths, and surrounding carpet
  • take food and beverage orders from guests requesting take out service and enter orders in our point-of-sale system
  • process payments correctly and efficiently
  • close checks
  • thank guests for their visit and invite them to return
  • perform side work at the start and end of each shift as assigned
  • be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
