The role of a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services is crucial in supporting plasma center operations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting experience
Job Qualifications
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program meeting state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Completion of FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of clinical or hospital setting experience
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility and follow SOPs for medical emergencies including implementation of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings and medical or technical issues including donor safety and eligibility
- Support employee vaccination programs including Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency room
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs
