The company specializes in producing a wide range of paint products and solutions designed to enhance and protect surfaces across residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Sherwin-Williams has built a strong reputation for high-quality products and outstanding customer service, operating numerous stores and wholesale locations across the United States. This established presence offers a stable work environment with opportunities for career development and growth.
The Customer Service Specialist role at Sherwin-Williams is a full-time position based across three stores located in Kenilworth, Evanston, and Glenview, Illinois. The hourly pay for this role starts at $19.75, reflecting the company’s commitment to competitive compensation and rewarding dedicated employees. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining Sherwin-Williams’ reputation for excellence by directly engaging with both retail and wholesale customers to identify their needs and deliver customized paint and coating solutions.
As a Customer Service Specialist, your primary responsibility is to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through exceptional sales service. You will assist customers in person and over the phone by providing knowledgeable guidance and product recommendations to meet their requirements. This role requires a proactive approach in resolving customer concerns quickly and efficiently to maintain strong client relationships. Besides customer interaction, you will be responsible for carrying out retail operations such as processing sales transactions accurately and maintaining stock and visual standards within the store.
In addition to sales, you will work closely with inventory control procedures, tint and mix products according to customer specifications, and manage store merchandise presentation to uphold Sherwin-Williams’ quality standards. This role also includes physical demands such as retrieving materials from shelves, loading and unloading delivery trucks, and assisting with deliveries when necessary.
Beyond the technical and sales aspects, Sherwin-Williams emphasizes a supportive culture that invests in employee well-being, career development, and community connection. Employees are encouraged to grow their skills through training and learning opportunities while contributing to an inclusive team environment. The company provides comprehensive benefits designed to support employees’ health, financial security, and work-life balance.
Sherwin-Williams’ hiring process for this role includes an online application, a digital behavioral interview via HireVue, and an in-store interview with the team. This structured process ensures the company hires motivated individuals who align with its core purpose to inspire and improve the world through innovative paint solutions. Sherwin-Williams values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer committed to fair employment practices. The company also prioritizes the safety and security of its operations and customers, conducting necessary background checks as part of its hiring process.
This position suits candidates who are at least 18 years old, legally authorized to work in the U.S., and fluent in both English and Spanish. Additionally, the role requires a valid driver's license and the physical ability to handle store duties. Preferred candidates hold a high school diploma or GED, bring previous experience in retail, delivery, or customer service, and ideally have specific knowledge of selling paint products and using tinting equipment.
Joining Sherwin-Williams as a Customer Service Specialist offers a rewarding career path where your interpersonal skills, product knowledge, and work ethic directly contribute to customer satisfaction and store success. This role promises a dynamic work environment, competitive pay, and a chance to develop professionally within a respected industry-leading company.
