The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center (BHUCC) is an integral part of this organization, offering critical crisis intervention and medical care in a fast-paced, 23-hour urgent care setting. The BHUCC Nurse Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is a vital role designed to provide medical and nursing care to clients experiencing mental health crises, substance withdrawal, or other urgent behavioral health needs. This role demands a professional who is both compassionate and competent, capable of managing medical emergencies, administering medications, conducting thorough assessments, and collaborating effectively with healthcare team members during crisis recovery and transition phases. As a BHUCC Nurse LPN, you will work 12-hour shifts, often overnight, including weekends and holidays, in an environment that requires punctuality, constant alertness, and adherence to strict protocols related to patient safety and medication administration.

In this role, you will engage directly in crisis interventions such as obtaining vital signs, conducting urine drug screenings, and following CIWA protocols for alcohol withdrawal, administering detox medications accordingly. You will also have responsibilities including triaging referrals, completing intake assessments, and maintaining accurate electronic and paper medical records. Collaboration with emergency departments, EMS, and other healthcare agencies is a crucial element of the position, ensuring seamless patient care during transitions. The job requires physical stamina and the ability to use verbal and physical de-escalation techniques safely and effectively, reflecting the dynamic nature of the Behavioral Health Urgent Care Unit.

The position offers an hourly wage of $22.99 and provides an opportunity to work within a supportive team environment where your contributions directly impact clients' lives. You will participate in shift reports, orientation and training of new staff, and help maintain a professional and positive workplace culture. Helen Ross McNabb Center also encourages professional growth and offers relevant certifications, such as CPR and First Aid training.
