The Beverage Supervisor role at Sodexo is based at the Virginia Beach Convention Center and is a full-time position offering a competitive pay range of $22 to $25 per hour. This position requires a flexible schedule with varying shifts, including days and hours, with an emphasis on open availability to meet business demands. As a Beverage Supervisor, you will play a vital role in managing beverage service operations for a wide array of events, from banquets and receptions to premium area services and special events. This role demands a strong leadership presence to guide bartenders, beverage attendants, and support staff, ensuring consistent, high-quality beverage service while complying with alcohol service laws and venue standards.

The Beverage Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision and operational oversight, including assigning staff to beverage stations, conducting pre-event briefings to communicate service expectations and compliance standards, overseeing inventory control, and ensuring seamless service flow throughout events. You will collaborate closely with culinary teams, event management, and leadership to align beverage service with the specific requirements of each function. Your ability to resolve issues promptly and maintain a smooth and professional service environment is crucial.

This role often involves physical tasks such as lifting and moving beverage supplies, sometimes weighing up to 50 pounds, and requires punctuality and consistent attendance for scheduled shifts. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • minimum 2-4 years of beverage, bar, or food and beverage service experience
  • prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations
  • knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices
  • certification in TIPS or TEAM alcohol training or equivalent
  • ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • availability to work varying shifts with open availability preferred
  • punctual attendance and regularity

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Provide on-site supervision of beverage service operations during events and assigned shifts
  • assign staff to beverage stations, bars, or service areas and adjust assignments as needed during events
  • conduct pre-event or pre-shift meetings to review event details, beverage menus, service expectations, and compliance requirements
  • support training and onboarding of beverage staff during service as needed
  • ensure compliance with alcohol service laws and responsible alcohol service practices
  • oversee inventory control and service flow during events
  • promptly resolve issues related to beverage operations
