Miraval Austin is currently seeking a Part-time Beverage Specialist to join their team. This role is ideal for creative individuals passionate about beverages and wellness, who want to share their knowledge and enthusiasm in an engaging and mindful way. The Beverage Specialist will be responsible for delivering hands-on beverage programming, workshops, and individual consultations that support guest well-being and balance. While specialized in mixology and spirits, this position also involves instructing on beer, wine, coffee, and tea, giving the opportunity to broaden the scope of beverage education.
The role requires a sommelier certification, ensuring an expert level of knowledge in wine that complements a broad understanding of other beverage categories. This position emphasizes creativity, mindfulness, and excellent communication skills as key attributes. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years experience in facilitating beverage programs, preferably in a hotel or restaurant setting
- Sommelier certification
- Ability to conduct lectures, workshops and one-on-one consultations
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- Flexible schedule including availability on weekends and holidays
- Familiarity with health and wellness issues
- Ability to work cleanly and cooperatively with culinary staff
Job Qualifications
- Sommelier certification required
- Polished and professional physical presentation, appropriate for brand representation
- Computer proficiency including effective use of email, routine database activity, word processing, graphics and spreadsheets
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Impeccable service skills with keen ability to foster and grow client relationships
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- Provide a variety of lectures, workshops and classes for Miraval guests
- Provide one-on-one guest consultations on lifestyle issues
- Maintain materials used in facilitation of programs
- Develop new curriculum, as well as manage changes and improvements to existing programs based on current research
- Manage attendance numbers for facilitated classes
- Participate in additional Miraval programs as needed
- Must be able to respond to a wide variety of individual guest needs in the areas of lifestyle management
- Be familiar with health and wellness issues and be able to respond appropriately
- Be familiar with community, national and international resources for a variety of guest needs
- Be able to relate empathically and helpfully to individual guests
- Be able to meaningfully facilitate groups and workshops
- Possess good communication and public speaking skills
- Must work in a clean and organized fashion committed to leaving space better than it was found on a daily basis
- Must cooperate with Culinary Specialist in upkeeping kitchen and materials
- Understand, practice and model mindfulness
- Fulfills marketing requests (article requests, blog posts, etc.)
