The Quality Control Technician role at Lone Star Paving is a key position within the Quality Control Team responsible for ensuring that all paving materials and processes remain compliant with contract specifications and quality control standards. This full-time role demands a professional with expertise in asphalt paving and construction, as well as familiarity with software such as Excel, Outlook, and Word to manage data capture and reporting efficiently. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in testing and monitoring materials including aggregates and asphalt mixtures to maintain quality assurance across projects.

In this position, the Quality Control Technician assists with sampling and testing materials daily, accurately maintaining databases and reports to document compliance and any deviations. The technician will also be responsible for adhering to safety protocols, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and actively participating in a culture of safety and quality improvement. This role requires precision and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret technical data and communicate effectively with project teams and management. Job Requirements

  • Experience working in asphalt paving and construction
  • Proficiency with Excel Outlook Word and other computer operating systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness
  • Ability to deal with the public in a pleasant courteous and calm manner in all circumstances
  • Ability to work under pressure and be multi-task oriented
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices processes standards and their impact on project activities
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills essential
  • Ability to organize data received and streamline the process of proposed job duties
  • Be available for overtime extended hours overnight and weekends as required
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting which could include inclement weather heat and humidity and exposure to dust and asphalt
  • Use of personal protection equipment is required
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Proper PPE is required at all times

Job Qualifications

  • 2 plus years experience
  • Asphalt paving and construction experience required
  • Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset
  • Must be positive friendly and professional
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting
  • Be available for overtime extended hours and weekends as required
  • Promote execute and adhere to the company's safety policy and encourage all employees subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture
  • Work in a safe responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself or endanger the wellbeing of others
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas
  • Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives as required

Job Duties

  • Inspect sample and test aggregates asphalt or other materials for the purpose of quality control
  • Sample and test mixtures to stay in compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance
  • Monitor and test process functions and materials daily to ensure our products meet or exceed requirements of the appropriate agency or customer
  • Prepare and record accurate information and maintain test results database
  • Follow quality control plans and guidelines as assigned
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
  • Perform general cleaning of work areas daily
