The Porter/Valet role at 21c Museum Hotels is an essential position that directly contributes to the guest experience from arrival through departure. Reporting to the Front Office Manager or Rooms Manager, the Porter/Valet is tasked with providing courteous and efficient service, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere in hotel entrances and lobbies, and assisting guests with luggage and vehicle parking. This role requires an energetic, friendly, and dependable individual who enjoys interacting with people and representing 21c’s brand values by leading with art and hospitality. The responsibilities include greeting guests upon arrival, helping them unload and transport their luggage, parking and retrieving vehicles, and responding promptly to any guest requests such as delivering laundry, newspapers, or additional linens. Successful candidates will be proactive in ensuring the hotel’s public areas are clean and attractive, contributing to an inviting ambiance.
Working as part of a team, the Porter/Valet supports other hotel departments to ensure seamless operations and exceptional customer service. The role demands flexibility in working hours, including nights and weekends, and the ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles. Physical stamina is necessary as the job includes prolonged periods of standing, walking, and the ability to lift heavy luggage up to 70 pounds. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years driving experience with a clean driving record
- Must be able to drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must pass a background check
- Able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Must be able to lift luggage up to 70 pounds
- Capable of prolonged standing, walking, and climbing stairs
- Strong communication skills
- Clean and professional appearance
- Must demonstrate tact, courtesy, and discretion
- Comfortable training on manual transmissions within 90 days

Job Duties
- Cleans lobby areas and entrances and maintains free of debris
- Assists other employees and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel
- Greets and assists arriving guests with help unloading luggage and transporting it to their room
- Offers to park guest's vehicle and provide claim ticket
- Assists departing guests by transporting luggage to the lobby and helping load luggage into their vehicle
- Responds promptly to guest needs by delivering laundry, newspapers, additional linens, and other requested items
- Provides up-to-date hotel information and promotes hotel services
- Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
