The role of a Porter and Valet at 21c Museum Hotels involves providing exceptional guest services that ensure comfort, convenience, and satisfaction. Working under the Front Office Manager and Rooms Manager, the position is integral to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer care in the hotel lobby and entrance areas. Porters and valets act as the first and last points of contact for guests, helping with luggage handling, vehicle parking, and delivering requested amenities promptly. The job requires a courteous, professional demeanor, an enthusiastic attitude toward guest interactions, and a readiness to assist in various hotel operations. Candidates should be comfortable managing both manual and automatic transmission vehicles, possess a valid driver's license, and be capable of lifting luggage up to 70 pounds.
Responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, assisting with luggage transport, parking and retrieving vehicles efficiently, maintaining the cleanliness of lobby spaces, and providing guests with information about hotel services and the local area. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- must have at least two years driving experience with a clean driving record
- must be able to operate two- and four-wheeled luggage carts and standard office equipment
- must be able to lift luggage up to 70 lbs
- capable of prolonged standing, walking and climbing stairs
- intermittent exposure to outside elements but primarily an indoor position
Job Qualifications
- must be able to drive vehicles with manual (stick shift) and automatic transmissions
- able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- responsible, dependable and punctual
- tactful, courteous and discreet
- strong communication skills and must be able to speak and understand English

- must have and maintain a valid driver's license
- must pass a background check
- must be 18 years of age or older
- must be comfortable in various vehicle types and willing to train on manual transmissions to achieve proficiency within the first 90 days
Job Duties
- clean lobby areas and entrances and maintain free of debris
- assist other employees and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel
- greet and assist arriving guests with help unloading luggage from vehicle and transporting to their room by carrying luggage or using a luggage cart
- offer to park guest's vehicle and provide claim ticket
- assist departing guests by transporting luggage from room to lobby and help load luggage into vehicle
- retrieve vehicle and assist guest with departure
- promptly deliver laundry, newspapers, iron and ironing board, additional linens, and other items requested by guests
- respond to inquiries and promote hotel services by explaining products and services
- keep abreast of local activities and area establishments to answer questions, recommend and give directions
- maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times
- perform other duties as assigned by management
