With more than 400 hotels across North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America, Highgate has established itself as a leader in the global hospitality industry. Founded over 30 years ago, Highgate has a distinguished track record marked by innovation and a deep commitment to quality in all aspects of hotel management and investment. The company offers comprehensive services spanning the full property lifecycle from initial planning and development stages to recapitalization and eventual disposition. By expertly managing a diverse collection of bespoke lifestyle hotel brands, cherished legacy brands, and independent hotels and resorts, Highgate consistently delivers contemporary programming and advanced digital capabilities that resonate with modern travelers.
Highgate is well-known for utilizing cutting-edge revenue management tools that expertly analyze and predict market trends, allowing the company to optimize performance and maximize asset value. Supported by an executive leadership team with decades of combined hospitality experience and offices strategically located worldwide, Highgate is a trusted partner for leading ownership groups and prominent hotel brands alike. The company's commitment to excellence and forward thinking approach make it a sought-after employer within the hospitality industry.
The Graduate Providence, a member of Historic Hotels of America, perfectly exemplifies Highgate’s commitment to excellence and heritage preservation. Located in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, this landmark 294-room hotel is celebrated for its grand architecture and rich history, dating back to its opening in 1922. Designed by Warren and Wetmore, the same architects behind New York City’s Grand Central Station, the Graduate Providence has been a beloved cultural and social hub for generations of guests. The hotel combines old-world charm with contemporary amenities to provide an authentic, memorable guest experience.
The Bellperson role at the Graduate Providence is a vital position within the hospitality team, responsible for creating positive first impressions and ensuring a seamless, comfortable stay for guests. This hourly role involves assisting guests with their luggage upon arrival and departure and attending to their various needs throughout their stay. The Bellperson serves as an ambassador of the hotel's warm hospitality, escorting guests to their rooms, providing information about hotel services, and supporting guests with any special requests or requirements. The role demands attentiveness, courtesy, and efficiency, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with both guests and team members.
Key responsibilities of the Bellperson include loading and unloading luggage carts, organizing and delivering luggage for tour groups, inspecting guest rooms to ensure readiness, explaining room features, managing luggage storage with tagging systems, delivering packages and amenities to guestrooms, and assisting with room changes. Additionally, the Bellperson is tasked with maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local attractions, events, and transportation options to provide helpful recommendations and directions to guests. The role also involves collaboration with front desk agents and housepersons to ensure a smooth and stellar guest experience.
This role requires physical stamina due to the demands of lifting heavy items and standing for extended periods. Strong communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential. Candidates with prior experience in hotels or related fields are preferred, along with a valid driver’s license if applicable. The Bellperson contributes not only to guest satisfaction but also to the overall reputation and success of the Graduate Providence and Highgate as a leading hospitality company.
