The role of Bell and Valet Manager at The Landing Hotel and Rivers Casino Portsmouth plays a crucial part in sustaining the high standards of guest service that the establishment is known for. This full-time position involves providing exceptional leadership and oversight to the Attendant Bell and Valet teams, ensuring operations are efficient and guest satisfaction remains the top priority. The manager will be responsible for directing and coordinating staff activities, managing schedules, and maintaining compliance with the hotel and casino’s quality assurance expectations and appearance guidelines. Additionally, this role includes preparing monthly reports, assisting the Front Desk Management team with budgeting and personnel matters, and ensuring all equipment and safety protocols are followed. The Bell and Valet Manager will also engage directly with guests, handling their luggage, addressing complaints promptly and courteously, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the front drive and entryway.

Beyond supervisory duties, the manager is expected to actively participate in hiring, training, and evaluating staff to cultivate a motivated and professional team. Effective communication with the leadership team and other departments is key to ensuring smooth operations and enhancing the overall guest experience. The manager will work with Risk Management on vehicle and guest claims, oversee inventory and supply control, and be involved in route transportation duties when necessary, including driving property-designated vehicles. This position requires a candidate who is self-motivated, adaptable to flexible schedules including holidays, and capable of working under time constraints with strong organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to handle vehicle operation with a valid driver’s license are also essential.

Physically, the role demands stamina and the ability to perform tasks involving lifting, standing, bending, and moving over various types of surfaces. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • two to four years supervisory customer services experience
  • previous experience in Bell, Valet and/or customer service
  • excellent communication skills
  • valid driver’s license and insurable under company policy
  • ability to work flexible shifts including holidays
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • ability to operate vehicles with manual or automatic transmission
  • ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods

Job Qualifications

  • Two to four years supervisory customer services experience is strongly preferred
  • previous experience in Bell, Valet and/or customer service position is preferred
  • a high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Job Duties

  • Manages department and the daily operation of the Attendants Bell and Valet
  • interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate
  • exercises initiative and judgment to ensure the smooth operational flow of department matters
  • check appearance of all team members to ensure compliance with standards of appearance
  • comply with quality assurance expectations, standards and hotel rating guidelines
  • schedules all team members to ensure sufficient workforce available for efficient guest service
  • maintain knowledge of hotel and casino amenities
  • retrieve and transport guest luggage
  • inspect guest rooms and acquaint guests with these rooms and their features
  • perform room checks for occupancy
  • ensure prompt, professional, and courteous service to all guests
  • handle guest complaints or problems promptly and courteously
  • work with Risk Management on guest claims, vehicle claims and adjustments
  • organize and store luggage according to guidelines
  • handle receiving and delivering of guest packages
  • ensure safe and proper use of all equipment
  • maintain a safety program
  • monitor daily progress and identify improvement areas via reports
  • prepare team member performance reviews and make personnel recommendations
  • manage and control supplies and inventory
  • ensure leadership team is aware of guest and department feedback
  • ensure messages and faxes are delivered regularly
  • drive property-designated vehicles to guest destinations or airport as needed
  • assist in equipment maintenance and appearance
  • maintain cleanliness of front drive and entryway
  • record purchase orders and prepare budgetary information
  • ensure departmental files are up to date
  • observe parking lot areas and ensure security of offices and storage
  • manage departmental budgets and forecasts
  • motivate and drive superior customer service among team
  • ensure safe use of Bell/Valet equipment
  • perform other duties as assigned
