Job Description
AdventHealth is a renowned healthcare organization dedicated to Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ by providing compassionate and comprehensive care to every individual they serve. As a faith-based health system, AdventHealth believes in the wholeness of each person—body, mind, and spirit—and is committed to creating an environment where both patients and employees can thrive. With numerous facilities across the United States, AdventHealth emphasizes a community-centric approach that upholds respect, integrity, and innovation in delivering high-quality healthcare services.
The position available at AdventHealth Denver, Colorado, offers an opportunity to be part of this purpose-minded team while growing professionally and spiritually. This role is classified as PRN (pro re nata), also known as as-needed, with night shifts, providing flexible scheduling that suits those seeking balanced work arrangements alongside other commitments.
The role centers around providing essential patient care with a strong focus on therapeutic communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff. The candidate will be expected to engage with patients in an age-appropriate manner, consistently practicing a high level of professional conduct and accountability. Understanding the legal consequences surrounding patient rights and responsibilities ensures that care is delivered ethically and with respect. Accurately documenting patient care and updating registered nurses or clinicians on relevant findings is a critical aspect of the role, ensuring continuous and coordinated care.
This position emphasizes maintaining organized, clean, and safe environments for patients and staff, recognizing that a calming and orderly space significantly contributes to healing and well-being. The role involves continuous patient observation, prompt response to crisis situations, and application of de-escalation techniques to safeguard both patients and associates.
Candidates will provide hands-on assistance in patient care under the direction of registered nurses or clinicians, necessitating clear reporting on patient status changes. AdventHealth values skills such as strong organizational abilities, verbal and interpersonal communication, customer relations, and a good command of grammar and spelling. Keyboarding and computer skills are also essential, with an emphasis on therapeutic interventions knowledge.
Educationally, a high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a bachelor's degree preferred in psychology or a related human services field. A minimum of one year of experience in acute care, mental health, or a related human services setting is necessary to ensure competence and comfort working in complex healthcare environments. While Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred, the employer is willing to support obtaining certification within 90 days of hire.
The pay range for this position is competitive, starting from $19.58 to $31.32 per hour, reflecting the organization's commitment to valuing their staff. AdventHealth is an equal opportunity employer adhering to all federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws. Working in this role offers candidates the chance to contribute meaningfully to patient care, be part of a community-oriented healthcare provider, and grow in their professional journey supported by a spiritually enriching work culture.
