As part of UnitedHealth Group, Optum delivers a wide range of services that connect people with healthcare, pharmacy benefits, data, and resources designed to promote healthier lives. The organization supports communities by fostering an inclusive culture that values talented professionals, career advancement, and comprehensive benefits. Working at Optum means joining a team committed to making a tangible impact on health outcomes on a global scale.

The role available is part of an innovative team redefining the future of behavioral health care through a unique approach that integrates care management across the entire continuum of behavioral health services. This position offers the flexibility of remote work from anywhere in the United States, allowing candidates to meet challenges head-on while contributing to a mission that affects a broad and diverse population. The role primarily involves managing inpatient admissions for psychiatric and chemical dependency patients, conducting patient assessments, and coordinating transitions of care to ensure patients receive appropriate, seamless support.

As a behavioral health care professional in this role, you will oversee initial inpatient admissions, evaluate patient needs, administer benefits, and collaborate closely with various care providers to facilitate treatment plans. You will be responsible for ensuring that patients’ transitions between inpatient, outpatient, and other care settings are managed effectively. The fast-paced environment requires an ability to make quick decisions, handle complex case coordination, and document measurable outcomes accurately. Your expertise will directly influence the quality of care delivered, helping individuals achieve better mental health and recovery outcomes.

This position is part of a bargaining unit, reflecting Optum's commitment to structured workforce representation and support. The salary range for this full-time position is competitive, between $60,200 and $107,400 annually, based on factors such as education, experience, certifications, and local market conditions. Employees will also benefit from a comprehensive package including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase opportunities, and 401(k) contributions, subject to eligibility.

Optum is committed to equity and inclusion, ensuring that candidates are evaluated without discrimination and fostering an environment where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are valued. The organization actively works to dismantle barriers to health equity and is an equal opportunity employer. As a drug-free workplace, candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test. This role represents an opportunity to join a mission-driven team focused on helping people live healthier lives and advancing health system performance for all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances.
