Job Description
ABS Kids is a dedicated organization committed to making a significant impact in the lives of children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. They pride themselves on fostering a culture where diversity is celebrated and all individuals feel empowered and valued. The company embraces an evolving understanding of diversity and inclusion, ensuring that all employees have equitable opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or Veteran status.
ABS Kids specifically focuses on providing supportive, compassionate care and applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to children, helping them develop essential life skills such as motor skills, personal hygiene, daily living routines, potty training, and social-emotional abilities. The organization values the "wow moments"—those meaningful milestones that reflect the positive difference their services bring to clients' lives and their families. Through shared experiences, ABS Kids staff feel motivated and inspired to continue their work with dedication and heart.
The role being offered is for part-time Behavior Technicians, from entry-level to seasoned Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), with variable shifts available to accommodate different schedules. Pay ranges from $19.50 to $24.00 per hour, with increases available upon obtaining RBT certification. There is a generous bonus system in place, offering between $500 to $1000 based on the candidate's experience. Additionally, bilingual Spanish/English speakers have the opportunity to earn an extra $1.00 per hour as premium pay when matched with bilingual-required client sessions.
Candidates do not necessarily need prior experience, as ABS Kids provides paid RBT certification and training on the job. The organization supports employees with paid drive time and mileage reimbursement, a 401(k) plan with company match, and paid time off earned for every hour worked. Furthermore, the company offers a variety of free continuing education opportunities, CPR and safety training, and an employee assistance program that includes free financial advice, counseling, and mental health resources.
This position is ideal for individuals who have experience working with children or adults with special needs in any setting, including roles such as nanny, paraprofessional, teacher, CNA, personal attendant, daycare worker, babysitter, caregiver, or aide. Those who have studied psychology, social work, or sociology will also find their educational background relevant. Applicants should have a heart for helping kids, a calm and steady presence, eagerness to play and engage, reliable transportation for travel between client homes and locations, and tech savviness to use data collection software and basic office programs.
The work schedule requires availability Monday through Friday during one of these timeframes: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, or 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. ABS Kids provides clear career path milestones with rewards, bonuses, and promotions encouraging professional growth.
In this rewarding role, you will make a meaningful difference by using play, patience, and ABA techniques to teach real-life skills to children with autism. You will provide one-on-one support, collect and record data on client behaviors and progress, maintain a safe and respectful environment, and assist children in developing important life skills. The position involves physical activity, including frequently getting down to and up from the floor and moving quickly as necessary.
ABS Kids is more than just a workplace; it is an opportunity to contribute to better futures for children and families. Join a compassionate team committed to impactful work and professional development, where your efforts are recognized and celebrated, and your career can grow in behavioral health and related fields.
