Job Description
Easterseals Southern California is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities, families, and communities through comprehensive disability and community services. With over 100 years of history, Easterseals Southern California has become a leader in promoting equity, inclusion, and access to vital resources such as healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. The organization serves more than 15,000 people each year, offering a wide range of programs including early childhood development, autism services, daily and independent living supports for adults, veterans' services, public education, policy advocacy, and more. Their work positively impacts the lives of people with disabilities by fostering a more inclusive society where everyone can live, learn, work, and play with dignity and respect.
The role of Behavior Interventionist at Easterseals Southern California is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about psychology, behavioral health, autism services, and making a difference in children's lives. Behavior Interventionists provide in-home Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy sessions to families and children on the autism spectrum. This position is ideal for those seeking practical experience and knowledge in behavioral therapy, autism spectrum disorders, and child development. The organization offers ongoing training and clearly defined career paths to support personal and professional growth.
As a Behavior Interventionist, candidates will work hands-on with children, using evidence-based ABA techniques to improve social skills, communication, and developmental outcomes. The role demands dedication, compassion, and flexibility, as therapy sessions are primarily scheduled in the afternoons, early evenings, and some weekend mornings. Candidates must be able to commit to at least 15 hours per week, with a base pay of $24 per hour.
This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and handling therapy materials and toys during home visits. Frequent walking, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and twisting are necessary to adequately observe, assess, and interact with participants. Candidates must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, auto registration, and auto insurance to effectively travel to home settings.
Easterseals Southern California seeks individuals with a genuine passion for working with children, especially those with special needs, and an interest in behavioral health fields. They provide an initial two-week comprehensive training program (Monday through Friday, approximately 35 hours) to familiarize new hires with ABA methodologies and best practices. Candidates should be prepared to pass background checks, drug screenings, and provide proof of immunization records and tuberculosis test results.
This position is well suited for individuals interested in careers in autism services, behavioral analysis, social skills development, psychology, sociology, social services, education, childcare, and mental health support. It also appeals to those aspiring to roles such as behavior therapist, behavioral health technician, teacher's aide, paraprofessional, youth program leader, or direct support professional. Joining Easterseals Southern California means becoming part of a compassionate and dedicated team committed to changing lives and fostering inclusive community living for people with disabilities.
