Job Description
BBC Foundation & Flatwork is a well-established commercial concrete contractor based in Carleton, MI, serving the greater regional market with a strong commitment to quality and dependable project execution. Specializing in commercial foundation and flatwork projects, the company has built a reputation for providing stable and busy work environments tailored for experienced field leaders who are passionate about craftsmanship and leading effective teams in the commercial concrete industry. BBC Foundation & Flatwork prides itself on its professional approach to construction, delivering projects that meet rigorous standards for safety, efficiency, and precision. With a focus on foundation and flatwork, the company is known for its expertise in handling complex commercial projects involving concrete slabs, pads, and foundational work that forms the base for a wide array of commercial structures. This attention to detail and dedication to quality ensures customer satisfaction and fosters long-term client relationships.
This opportunity is for the position of a Commercial Concrete Foreman, a critical leadership role within BBC Foundation & Flatwork. The foreman will lead and manage field crews on commercial concrete foundation and flatwork projects throughout the local and regional markets. This full-time position involves hands-on leadership, with responsibilities that include reading and interpreting blueprints and site plans, setting and verifying grades, coordinating crew assignments, and overseeing daily operations to maintain safety, quality, and schedules. Candidates can expect to earn between $30 and $35+ per hour, depending on experience, with additional financial incentives such as sign-on bonuses, ongoing bonus opportunities, and overtime potential, especially during the busy concrete season. The role also offers prevailing wage project opportunities, demonstrating the company's commitment to engaging in government or union-supported contracts.
The Commercial Concrete Foreman will be pivotal in ensuring successful project execution, from initiation through completion. They will be expected to lead crews effectively, supervise daily field operations, enforce safety standards, and monitor quality control on all concrete pours including foundations, pads, and flatwork. The foreman will serve as a direct liaison between field crews and project leadership, communicating progress, challenges, and resource needs. This leadership role demands strong technical expertise in blueprint reading, grade setting, and concrete work execution, coupled with practical problem-solving skills and the ability to motivate and manage workers in a dynamic construction environment. The successful candidate will hold a valid driver’s license, and a Michigan chauffeur’s license or the ability to obtain one rapidly is required. Additional qualifications such as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and equipment operating skills are preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with prevailing wage projects is a plus. This role allows for regular travel to local and regional jobsites with most evenings spent at home, contributing to work-life balance and employee well-being.
BBC Foundation & Flatwork embraces diversity and offers equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants, ensuring a respectful and inclusive workplace free from discrimination. Their approach reflects both professional integrity and a commitment to the local workforce, providing career growth and a rewarding environment for construction professionals specializing in commercial concrete projects.
