Job Description

ECOS is a pioneering women-led company dedicated to producing plant-powered laundry detergents and cleaners that emphasize safety for people, pets, and the environment. The company is distinguished as a Climate Positive organization, meaning it actively restores more than 100% of its carbon, water, and energy consumption back to the earth. This commitment to sustainability is reflected in its four manufacturing facilities located within the United States, underscoring ECOS' dedication to domestic production and environmental responsibility. The company not only focuses on ecological impact but also promotes inclusivity and equal opportunity in the workplace, welcoming minorities, females, individuals with disabilities, and veterans.

The current opportunity is for a full-time Batchmaker/Compounder based in Addison, Illinois, who will play a critical role within the manufacturing process. This position involves ensuring the safe, consistent, and quality mixing of all production batches based on received orders and available stock levels. The person in this role will follow precise batch-making schedules and handle the preparation of all liquid products necessary to fulfill production demands. Attention to detail is paramount, as the Batchmaker will collect batch samples for quality control, liaise with the chemist to monitor formula quality, and report any problems with new or existing formulas. This role also includes responsibility for labeling and properly storing raw materials and ensuring all batch tanks, drums, pails, and samples are correctly identified, which is essential for maintaining production standards and regulatory compliance.

In addition to production duties, the Batchmaker/Compounder supports the purchasing department by providing weekly requisitions for raw materials and plays a vital part in equipment maintenance by reporting breakdowns urgently to the Plant Manager. This position demands a proactive approach, as the Batchmaker must request supplies needed to perform duties successfully and maintain a clean, organized, and safe batch area that complies with all safety regulations. Handling chemical logistics according to the company's Deacom mapping system and assisting with special projects as needed are also part of the broader responsibilities.

To thrive in this role, candidates must demonstrate familiarity with chemical blending processes, have the ability to interpret product formula instructions and Safety Data Sheets, and hold forklift certification. Physical capabilities include the safe lifting of bottles, boxes, tools, and equipment. Strong multitasking abilities, effective time management, and close attention to detail, especially in reading and following instructions, are essential for success. This role offers a competitive starting pay of $23 per hour, supplemented by a comprehensive benefits package.

Joining the ECOS team means becoming part of a company that values sustainability, quality, employee well-being, and diversity. Benefits include comprehensive insurance plans covering medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, and supplemental options such as accident and critical illness coverage. The company provides financial security through a 401k plan with company matching contributions and promotes work-life balance with paid vacation, Illinois paid leave, and ten paid holidays annually, which notably includes your birthday. Additional support comes in the form of paid parental bonding leave, sustainability incentives encouraging eco-friendly commuting choices, wellness programs with various incentives, and an inclusive work culture. ECOS truly offers a supportive and progressive environment for those looking to contribute meaningfully to eco-conscious manufacturing practices while advancing their careers.
