The University of Louisville Golf Club is currently seeking a Part-Time Bartender/Server to join its Food and Beverage team. This position plays a vital role in enhancing the overall member and guest experience by providing excellent food and beverage service during both regular club hours and special events. Working part-time and classified as a regular employee, the role requires a high level of professionalism, efficiency, and customer service skills to support the club's reputation for excellence.

The Part-Time Bartender/Server will be responsible for taking customer orders, serving food and beverages, preparing itemized checks, and handling payments promptly and accurately. Additionally, this role includes preparing garnishes, stocking the bar, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws related to food, beverage, alcohol, and tobacco service. Employees must also be capable of performing multiple duties under pressure, maintaining good mobility, and handling weighty objects safely.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Grade 1 (hourly)
  • Good mobility and ability to lift heavy objects sometimes in excess of 30 pounds
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage multiple duties under pressure
  • Compliance with all relevant food and beverage sanitation and safety laws
  • Ability to check customer identification according to statutory regulations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to promote a friendly atmosphere

Job Qualifications

  • College degree in Culinary Science, Foodservice Systems Administration/Management, Hotel/Restaurant Management desirable
  • Previous experience in bartending or serving preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Knowledge of beverage preparation and inventory management
  • Familiarity with state and federal food and beverage laws and regulations

Job Duties

  • Take customer orders, serve food and beverages, prepare itemized checks, and accept payments
  • Complete all daily tasks and cleaning schedules assigned by the Food & Beverage Manager
  • Perform daily cash reconciliation
  • Prep garnishes for drinks, stock bar, and maintain a clean work area
  • Check identification of customers in the bar area to ensure they meet all statutory regulations
  • Work both private and Club events
  • Must have good mobility and can lift heavy objects sometimes in excess of 30 pounds
  • Must efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Promote a friendly atmosphere for all Members and guests, as well as coworkers
  • Ensure operations comply with all state and federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to food and beverage sanitation, alcohol and tobacco, and ADA requirements
  • Perform other duties as appropriate
