The role at hand is for a Bartender who will play a crucial part in upholding the restaurant's reputation for excellence. The Bartender will be responsible for providing timely, accurate, and friendly service while preparing a wide range of high-quality alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. This position requires a proactive individual who assumes full responsibility for the quality of the guest experience at the bar. Responsibilities include taking and accurately recording orders, preparing drinks according to standardized recipes, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area, and engaging with guests to ensure their satisfaction. The Bartender will be expected to have a thorough knowledge of drink recipes, beverage offerings, and be skilled in handling transactions.

In addition to the operational duties, the Bartender will contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant by recognizing regular guests and fostering a friendly environment. They will participate actively in team meetings, assist with inventory management, and support other staff members during busy periods to ensure seamless service. Safety, sanitation, and compliance with all licensing regulations are critical aspects of this role. Moreover, the Botender will perform opening and closing duties, including checklists to prepare and secure the restaurant accordingly.

Job Requirements

  • Be 21 years of age
  • have knowledge of restaurant operations, service procedures and functions
  • be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of guests
  • possess basic math skills to handle money and operate cash register
  • be able to work in standing position for long periods of time up to 5 hours
  • be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
  • demonstrate punctuality and regular and reliable attendance
  • demonstrate honesty and integrity

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous bartending or hospitality experience preferred
  • knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes

Job Duties

  • Take orders from guests and beverage orders from servers
  • prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the restaurant’s standard drink recipes
  • learn the names and personally recognize regular guests
  • record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system
  • accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change if applicable
  • wash and sterilize glassware
  • prepare garnishes for drinks and replenish snacks for bar patrons
  • maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages
  • clear and reset tables in bar area
  • present drink menus, make specific recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages
  • maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas
  • receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar
  • report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to bar supervisor
  • assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies
  • thank guests for their visit and invite them to return
  • attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • assure that opening checklist is completed and that the restaurant is prepared for opening
  • in the absence of a host, review reservations, establish a floor map for smooth seating and assign server sections
  • assure staff is aware of food and beverage specials
  • analyze labor needs as the shift progresses and promptly send excess servers or bussers home as needed
  • observe customers as they enter the restaurant and assure they are greeted promptly and properly and seated in a friendly manner
  • monitor and observe guests dining experience, ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service, and respond promptly and courteously to any requests or problems
  • be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the restaurant
  • up sell drink specials and food items as directed by management
  • recognize regular guests
  • complete closing checklist
  • check servers out and account for their cash drop and paperwork
  • at end of day make sure restaurant lights are out and building is locked and secure
  • drop cash in the end shift drop box
