Job Description
South Coast Botanic Garden is a renowned 87-acre destination dedicated to connecting people with the wonders of nature while inspiring stewardship and sustainability. The garden is uniquely situated atop a reclaimed sanitary landfill, transforming what once was an unlikely site into a vibrant oasis of formal gardens and natural walking trails. Among its signature attractions are the Dorothy and John Bohannon Rose Garden, the Living Wall—an impressive exhibit featuring eight large-scale works of fine art sculpture—and the seasonal butterfly pavilion. The garden also hosts programs that combine music, craft, science, and wellness activities to engage guests actively with nature. Furthermore, a new 3.5-acre Marilyn and John Long Children and Family Garden is set to open soon, adding to the garden's appeal and diversity. This vibrant and dynamic environment offers an enriching experience both for visitors and employees alike.
South Coast Botanic Garden Foundation is currently seeking a Temporary Bartender to join its Food and Beverage team. This part-time, temporary role (approximately 24 hours per week from March 16 through May 15) offers an hourly pay rate of $20.00 plus tips. The position reports to the Manager of Beverage Program and Front of House and provides a valuable opportunity to work in a unique non-profit setting focused on community and environmental engagement. The Temporary Bartender will be responsible for preparing and serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in alignment with company standards, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and ensuring excellent customer service to enhance the visitor experience. This role demands a professional, personable individual who can multitask efficiently in a fast-paced atmosphere while promoting responsible alcohol service. It also requires availability during evenings, weekends, holidays, and even outdoor working conditions. Applicants can expect to contribute meaningfully to the garden's ongoing mission while gaining valuable experience in hospitality within a respected cultural and environmental institution.
