The Bartender role at San Laurel is integral to maintaining the high standards associated with this acclaimed venue. This position is offered as an hourly role with a starting pay of $21.40, commensurate with experience and the specifics of the luxury hospitality market in Los Angeles. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving beverages while ensuring outstanding guest service throughout their shifts. The role requires at least two years of bartending experience in high-end or luxury cocktail bars, with a preference for candidates who possess mixology skills and previous FORBES training. This position demands a thorough knowledge of food and beverage preparation, alcoholic beverage service, and adherence to hospitality standards and liquor laws. Manual dexterity is essential for various bartending tasks such as garnishing drinks and handling glassware, while mathematical ability is necessary for accurate cash handling, order processing, and closing out guest checks. The role also demands excellent English communication skills to interact with guests effectively and to complete necessary reporting and documentation. Physical stamina is required to work long periods standing and walking, as well as the ability to lift weights up to 40 pounds. Flexibility in scheduling, especially working weekends and holidays, is mandatory given the operation hours of the restaurant and bar. Consistent with California regulatory laws, the employee must obtain Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) and a California Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire. The Bartender will actively contribute to the smooth operation of the bar by maintaining stock levels, preparing garnishes, mixing drinks according to standard recipes, checking guest identification, responsibly monitoring alcohol consumption, and handling all financial transactions related to beverage sales. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis including requisitioning and stocking of supplies
  • Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables
  • Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks
  • Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
  • Checks guests for proper identification and acts upon guest inebriation as trained
  • Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates checks for guests
  • Receives cash from guests, makes change, verifies charges, records transactions, balances money and secures deposits
  • Locks up and stores all beverage, food, and equipment items properly
  • Deposits cash bank securely
  • Participates in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area
  • Adheres to all liquor laws and hotel policies
  • Collaborates with the team to provide exceptional guest experiences
