The Bartender position at Sonesta International Hotels plays a vital role in enhancing the guest experience by delivering top-quality service in the hotel’s social venues. The bartender is responsible for setting up, servicing, and breaking down the bar area efficiently while maintaining the highest levels of quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction. The role involves creating specialty beverages and craft cocktails that meet the brand’s standards and exceed guest expectations. As an ambassador of hospitality, the bartender must have a passion for guest engagement, anticipating guest needs, and providing personalized recommendations for food and beverage items. The bartender will utilize the MICROS POS system to manage orders and ensure seamless communication between the bar and kitchen staff. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar and service tools is essential to providing a safe and welcoming environment. The bartender will adhere to all standard operating procedures, opening and closing checklists, and daily cleaning schedules to maintain compliance and operational excellence. Continuous training and development are encouraged to stay current on brand service manuals and the latest hospitality techniques. The role also involves building positive relationships with colleagues, demonstrating respect, integrity, and upholding the company’s organizational values. The bartender must be able to work independently as well as in a team to deliver consistent, engaging, and passionate service that reflects Sonesta’s mission to "Cherish the Guest in Every Way." Job Requirements

  • Three to six months related experience and/or training
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • valid Louisiana Responsible Vendor Server's Permit
  • valid ServSafe Food Handler Certificate
  • ability to stand and walk regularly
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • specific vision abilities including color vision
  • capability to handle stressful situations
  • positive attitude and ability to work independently and with a team
  • commitment to uphold organizational values
  • must complete all required training and certifications

Job Qualifications

  • Track record of delivering exceptional guest or client experience
  • communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time for training and safety purposes, and when interacting with guests and associates
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to make sound decisions
  • ability to work independently and handle stressful situations dealing with employees in a production environment
  • ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • must be able to work independently and/or with a group to accomplish the goals at hand
  • a positive attitude is strongly desired
  • valid Louisiana Responsible Vendor Server's Permit required
  • valid ServSafe Food Handler Certificate required

Job Duties

  • Follow service guidelines according to the Brand standards in the Service Manual
  • responsible for the creation of specialty beverage items and craft cocktails
  • presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service
  • makes recommendations of food and beverage items according to guest preferences
  • writes order on check or memorizes it and enters into MICROS POS system
  • relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars
  • observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed
  • follows proper check out procedures and proper cash handling procedures
  • must keep service area and tools clean and organized
  • responsible for returning all items to their zoned location
  • attends all ongoing training sessions
  • must follow all prescribed systems of organization and cleanliness
  • must complete all before, during and after shift paperwork
  • responsible for following all opening and closing checklists and sidework
  • must follow all daily and weekly cleaning schedules
