Job Description

Sonesta International Hotels is the eighth largest hotel company in the United States, renowned for its rapid growth and commitment to providing exceptional hospitality experiences. With a robust portfolio consisting of full-service and focused hotels, Sonesta spans across major cities, boasting over 1000 properties in eight countries. The company’s diverse collection of owned, managed, and franchised properties enables it to be a preferred lodging choice for travelers worldwide. Sonesta is driven by a deep dedication to the human side of hospitality, emphasizing service delivered with passion, loyalty, and meaningful guest connections. The brand’s mission, summarized by its motto "Together We Thrive," reflects its focus on excellence by bringing quality, value, and warm hospitality to every guest and every stay across a wide array of properties.

Sonesta is currently hiring a Bartender to join its vibrant team, responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages to guests with the highest quality standards and professionalism. This role is pivotal in ensuring guests receive prompt and courteous service, whether they are enjoying beverages by the pool bar or the lobby bar. The position demands an individual who can expertly handle drink preparation by adhering to established pour standards and drink recipes, ensuring consistent taste and cost control. The bartender will also have the opportunity to engage with guests by promoting house drinks and using up-selling skills to maximize revenue. This role requires a cooperative spirit to coordinate food service with restaurant operations when applicable.

In addition to guest service, the bartender has important responsibilities related to safety and regulation compliance—monitoring alcohol consumption to prevent excessive drinking, verifying age for alcohol service, and notifying management of any incidents or safety concerns. The bartender also performs essential duties such as setting up and stocking the bar, inventorying unused liquor, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the bar area, handling cash and credit transactions accurately, and assisting with pre- and post-shift side work. Collaboration is key, as the bartender works in close communication with other departments to promote a team environment dedicated to quality service.

Working at Sonesta means joining a company that values teamwork, quality, and guest satisfaction while offering a dynamic and engaging work environment. The role involves working various shifts including weekends and holidays, primarily covering duties at the pool bar, lobby bar, lounge areas, kitchen, and other food and beverage spaces. Sonesta provides competitive pay and a supportive workplace culture that encourages growth, development, and long-term career opportunities in the hospitality industry. By becoming a bartender at Sonesta, individuals contribute to the company’s legacy of providing memorable guest experiences with warmth and professionalism.
