The Playhouse is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Bartender to join their team. This role is pivotal in ensuring a positive guest experience by managing the bar and concessions during performances. The Bartender will be responsible for serving snacks and beverages, and interacting with guests in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner. The position requires working during performances, including evenings and weekends, with hours fluctuating based on the event and performance schedules. The ideal candidate will have prior hospitality industry experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service while adhering strictly to California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) laws and company policies. Responsibilities include managing bar setup, sales flow, and breakdown during intermissions, checking identification for legal compliance, handling cash transactions accurately, and maintaining an organized and clean bar area. This role demands a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to maintain composure and efficiency even during high-volume periods. The employee will also collaborate closely with the Front of House team to ensure seamless operations and an enjoyable experience for all patrons. The Playhouse offers compensation at a rate of $23.00 per hour plus tips, with working hours that can range from zero to 25 hours per week, depending on production and event schedules. Job Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- One to two years of related experience or training
- Valid California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification
- Knowledge of California liquor laws and regulations
- Previous customer service experience
- Previous cash handling experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
- Ability to walk up and down stairs
- Willingness to work outdoors and adapt to inclement weather conditions as needed
- Must be able to comply with all essential job functions and reasonable accommodations
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Ensure the highest level of customer service
- Work closely with the Front of House team to ensure a smooth experience for patrons
- Manage setup, sales flow and breakdown of the bar for each performance through intermission
- Greet guests, check identification to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol and take beverage and snack orders using a POS system
- Create and serve mixed drinks in a timely manner
- Maintain efficiency and a calm demeanor while managing a high volume of orders
- Handle cash accurately and process payments
- Ensure the bar area is fully equipped with supplies and products needed for sales
- Prepare inventory and communicate inventory requests to supervisors
- Maintain an organized and clean working area
- Attend periodic Front of House meetings
