The Bartender position at Southern Tier within ABV is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about craft beverages and hospitality. As a Bartender, you will be the face of the Southern Tier brand in the taproom, preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages while maintaining a warm and engaging environment. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy interacting with guests, educating them about craft beers, and delivering exceptional service that reflects the values of collaboration, craftsmanship, and community. The Bartender is responsible not only for beverage preparation but also for managing bar inventory, assisting with bar setup and cleaning, and ensuring compliance with alcohol service laws.

This is a part-time position offering $10.70 per hour plus tips, reporting to either the General Manager or the Front of House Manager on duty. Candidates will join a passionate, tight-knit team dedicated to craft excellence and hospitality. The role involves multitasking in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and clear communication are essential. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • must have a passion for hospitality and craft beverages
  • excellent interpersonal skills and comfortability with discussing products in detail with guests
  • strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • experience with craft cocktails is desired
  • ability to operate the point-of-sale system (POS)
  • at least one year of related experience required
  • prolonged periods standing and walking
  • must be able to lift and carry at least 60 pounds
  • ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent bending, stooping and reaching

Job Duties

  • Greet guests timely as they are seated at the bar
  • ensure bar is clean and that coasters, utensils, napkins, and other needs have been provided
  • prepare and serve liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic drinks as ordered from guests and waitstaff
  • accurately and efficiently enter food and beverage orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system
  • collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order preparation and delivery
  • complete all required bar prep, including but not limited to cutting fruit/garnish, making syrups, batching cocktails
  • maintain a clean, organized bar and ensure it is stocked with clean glassware
  • follow all alcohol service laws and be mindful of safe alcohol service, including checking photo IDs
  • process guest payments by preparing checks and handling transactions through the POS system
  • communicate clearly and respectfully with guests, teammates, and management
  • change, move, and organize kegs as needed
  • assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and setting up the bar
  • assist with other side work duties such as cleaning the dining area, preparing silverware and refilling condiments
  • perform other related duties as assigned
