This full-time Bartender Non-Tipped position is based at the University of Southern Maine in Portland. The role involves providing exceptional customer service by efficiently mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to patrons directly or through servers. Bartenders at Sodexo are expected to work collaboratively with servers and other staff to ensure swift and waste-free service. Essential responsibilities include greeting customers, preparing drinks with proper garnishes, maintaining a well-equipped bar area, accurately conducting opening counts, and managing inventory orders. The role demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand or walk for long periods, perform repetitive motions, and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Punctuality and reliability in attendance are also important qualities. This position requires candidates to be at least the minimum legal age to serve alcohol, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and preferably have some knowledge or experience in drink preparation. Working varying shifts with open availability is preferred, accommodating the dynamic needs of the service environment. Job Duties
- Receive customers mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and create drink recipes with appropriate garnishes
- Ensure the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed to mix drinks and serve customers
- Prepare accurate opening counts and place inventory or purchase orders as necessary to replenish supplies
- Be cordial diplomatic and attentive when dealing with customers
- Walk or move around significantly during shifts
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods possibly exceeding 8 hours
- Ability to reach bend squat push and/or pull and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- Perform repetitive motions
- Attend work and show up for scheduled shifts on time consistently
- Perform other duties as assigned varying by client needs
