The position falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system, with overtime and premium pays applicable under certain working conditions. The role involves operating a full-service bar which includes mixing and serving a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, handling customer orders, recording sales, maintaining the stock and cleanliness of the bar, and overseeing other bar staff. The bartender must be skilled in mixing drinks, calculating bills, and charge handling, all while maintaining excellent customer service and exercising discretion to manage patrons responsibly.

Job Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required
  • Meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements
  • One-year probationary period may be required

  • Complete minimum 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days and 4 hours refresher annually
  • Pre-employment background checks including medical examination
  • Complete Tier 1 background investigation for Common Access Card
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
  • Position and duty hours subject to change based on mission requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Must meet state and local age requirements for serving alcohol
  • Ability to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds
  • Possess math skills necessary to calculate bills and take inventory
  • Skill in mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Ability to monitor and direct other bar staff
  • Previous work experience as a full-service bartender

Job Duties

  • Operates a full-service bar mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Assists customers by discussing beverage options and mixing special drinks according to customer directions
  • Records sales, makes change, or prepares charge slips accurately
  • Stocks bar and maintains cleanliness and sanitation of bar, utensils, equipment, and work area
  • Keeps records of beverage quantities dispensed and manages restocking requests
  • Provides work direction to other bar employees
  • Uses tact and courtesy to deny service to unruly or intoxicated patrons
