The role being offered is that of a Bartender who will be primarily responsible for the operational setup, maintenance, and efficient running of the bar area within the 1917 Club. This position requires a dedicated individual who can prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards, and manage inventory and cash handling tasks effectively. The Bartender will be an integral part of providing excellent customer service, ensuring the satisfaction and safety of patrons, including identifying and managing instances of intoxication or unruly behavior. The job demands adherence to established procedures and guidelines, requiring some independent judgment and initiative alongside following specific instructions for any unusual tasks. This position is indoor-based, requiring physical capabilities such as lifting and prolonged standing, and it includes mandatory compliance with federal employment standards, background checks, and food safety training. Employment terms include eligibility for overtime pay, Sunday premium pay, and other wage differentials as applicable under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. Job Requirements

  • Regularly lifts and carries items weighing up to 20 pounds

  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical examination
  • Incumbent is required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities

Job Qualifications

  • Meet state/local age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages at the time of appointment
  • Be able to lift and carry weights up to 20 pounds
  • Possess math skills necessary to calculate patron bills and take inventory
  • Skill in mixing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages

Job Duties

  • Sets up bars for operation, obtains cash bank and stocks service bar
  • Assures an adequate stock level is maintained, sets up storeroom and work area to permit easy access to stock items
  • Prepares a limited variety of simple alcoholic beverages as requested by patrons and wait staff
  • Records sales and makes change or prepares charge slips
  • Keeps bar and work area clean and sanitary
  • Identifies persons who become unruly or who appear intoxicated, resolves the problem or seeks assistance in accordance with established procedures
  • Skill in mixing drinks using alcoholic beverages, beer and soda
  • Applies simple arithmetic in calculating bills and making change
  • Receives specific instructions for new or unusual assignments
  • Routine work is performed without close supervision
