The role offered at Hotel Contessa is that of a Bartender, a vital position ensuring guest satisfaction through exceptional service and attention to detail. The bartender is responsible for maintaining the bar's proper setup, inventory, and cleanliness while ensuring all beverages are prepared accurately according to standard recipes. This includes requisitioning and stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, condiments, and produce based on daily projections. The role demands a hospitable manner when greeting guests, as well as expertly mixing, garnishing, and presenting drinks with prudent portion control. The bartender must comply with all local, state, federal, and corporate regulations related to alcohol service and manage cash and sales transactions accurately to maintain accountability. This position also requires maintaining a secure environment by properly locking and storing equipment and monetary assets.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in bartending or related hospitality role preferred
  • legal age to serve alcohol
  • ability to stand for extended periods

  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • hotel experience preferred
  • must communicate well with guests
  • basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
  • basic mathematical skills to operate register, make change, total guest checks, count bank, prepare cash drops, and understand portion sizes
  • sufficient manual dexterity to use a knife for garnishes and handle glassware and bottles
  • ability to remember, recite and promote menu items
  • ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures
  • ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to adapt communication style to different audiences

Job Duties

  • maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis
  • requisitions and stocks all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce
  • maintains stock, cuts, and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily
  • greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • promotes and documents orders for drinks
  • mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard recipes and portion control
  • abides by all state, federal and corporate requirements for serving alcoholic beverages
  • inputs orders into a register and creates checks for guests
  • receives cash from guests, makes change, verifies charges, and balances all money
  • locks and stores all beverage, food and equipment items
  • deposits cash drops and secures bank
  • complies with attendance rules
  • performs other job-related duties as assigned
