The role of Bartender at the Georgia World Congress Center is an exciting opportunity for those seeking to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment that hosts conventions, conferences, banquets, and various special events. The Bartender is instrumental in providing a high-quality beverage service, ensuring every guest receives a welcoming and enjoyable experience. This role requires a professional who is adept in beverage preparation, operating bar stations, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and adhering to health, safety, and sanitation standards. The Bartender must also be familiar with responsible alcohol service practices, including verifying guest identification and monitoring behavior to comply with legal requirements. Strong communication skills are essential as this role involves collaboration with event managers, banquet captains, and service staff to ensure seamless event operations.

The position demands experience in bartending within convention centers, hotels, banquet halls, or other high-volume settings, along with knowledge of classic cocktails, beer, wine, and mixology techniques. Physical stamina is necessary, as the role involves standing for extended periods and lifting or pushing moderate weights. Flexibility in working hours is important since events occur during nights, weekends, holidays, and based on event schedules. Preferred candidates will hold a current alcohol service certification such as ServSafe Alcohol or TIPS.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift and push up to 25-50 lbs as needed
  • Ability to verify guest identification accurately
  • Knowledge of local and state alcohol service laws
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Previous bartending experience in a convention center, hotel, banquet, or high-volume environment preferred
  • Knowledge of classic cocktails, beer, wine, and general mixology techniques
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and event-based schedules
  • Current alcohol service certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with recipes and event guidelines
  • Set up, operate, and break down bar stations for events of varying size and style
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, equipment, and storage areas
  • Verify guest identification to ensure compliance with alcohol service laws
  • Monitor guest behavior and practice responsible alcohol service
  • Process payments accurately using POS systems, following all cash-handling procedures
  • Restock bar inventory including beverages, garnishes, glassware, and supplies
  • Communicate effectively with event managers, banquet captains, and service staff
  • Provide friendly, efficient, and professional customer service to enhance the guest experience
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation standards required by the location and local regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
