Job Description

Bloomingdale's is a renowned fashion retailer committed to making fashion personal, fun, and accessible. With a mission to inspire and guide customers to utilize style as a source of creative energy, Bloomingdale's stands out as a unique destination in the retail landscape. The company prides itself on fostering a collaborative environment where employees at all levels are valued and encouraged to contribute their ideas. Diversity of thought and opinion is embraced, making Bloomingdale's more than just a store - it's a community driven by passion, entrepreneurship, and a commitment to excellence. Employees experience a work culture that combines professionalism with a lively, enjoyable atmosphere.

The Bartender role at Bloomingdale's is integral to delivering exceptional hospitality in their full-service restaurant setting. This position entails preparing and serving alcoholic beverages while strictly adhering to company policies, health regulations, and state and federal laws. The Bartender is responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for guests by enforcing age restrictions and refusing service to intoxicated individuals. The role demands a comprehensive knowledge of wines, beers, and various spirits, along with an ability to educate and engage customers about food and beverage offerings.

Beyond beverage preparation, bartenders at Bloomingdale's are expected to maintain cleanliness and organization in their work areas, manage inventory and stock levels, and utilize point-of-sale systems for transactions. The position involves multitasking in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple customers simultaneously while communicating effectively with management to address any concerns. This role also involves operational responsibilities such as opening and closing the bar area in accordance with set checklists and protocols.

This position requires candidates to have a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of three to five years of bartending or related hospitality experience, and the legal age of 21 or older to serve alcohol. Preferred qualifications include bartending certifications and a strong background in restaurant or hospitality environments. Flexibility in scheduling is crucial, as the role demands availability during retail hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

In addition to the physical demands of standing, walking, and moving items up to 25 pounds, the role requires proficiency with computers and cash handling skills. Bloomingdale's commits to providing benefits such as 401(k), medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance options, paid time off, holidays, and potential performance-based bonuses. This position supports Macy’s, Inc.'s comprehensive commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion across its brands including Bloomingdale's. This job is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about hospitality and customer service within a dynamic retail and dining environment.
