Mastery of diverse drink recipes, knowledge of liquor types, correct glassware usage, and garnish requirements form the backbone of this role. Attention to detail in cash handling, including operation of point-of-sale systems like MICROS, proper discounting, bank procedures, and accurate tip reporting, is essential to maintain the financial integrity of the bar.

The bartender must also be capable of resolving complaints tactfully and professionally. Part of the ongoing commitment to responsible service involves formal training in liquor liability that must be completed within the first 30 days of employment and periodically renewed every two years.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in bartending or a related field preferred
  • ability to work flexible schedules including nights weekends and holidays
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • must complete formal liquor liability training within 30 days of employment

Job Duties

  • Efficiently maintain bar supplies including preparation of daily requisition as necessary
  • must be completely familiar with all the different kinds of liquor recipes and prices of drinks proper glassware used for each recipe as well as garnishes needed
  • know drink recipes prices and type of beverages available
  • be familiar with accurate cash handling procedures to include proper discounting MICROS system or registers bank procedures and tip policies
  • responsible for accurately charging the guests for drinks
  • responsible for accurate intake of all the monies
  • anticipate guest needs respond promptly and acknowledge all guests maintaining positive guest relations at all times
  • resolve guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction in each interaction
  • be formally trained regarding liquor liability within 30 days of employment and every 2 years thereafter
