Job Description

Shamin Hotels is a distinguished hotel owner and operator with a legacy that dates back to 1978. Founded by P.C. Amin and B.N. Shah, who combined their vision and dedication to excellence, the company began with the acquisition of a bankrupt hotel in Lumberton, North Carolina. Since then, Shamin Hotels has evolved into the largest hotel owner and operator in Virginia, boasting over 70 hotels across multiple states. This extensive portfolio reflects a strong commitment to quality service, guest satisfaction, and continuous growth within the hospitality industry. Shamin Hotels prides itself on fostering an atmosphere of collaboration, ownership, and passionate service among its employees, creating a workplace where individuals can thrive and contribute to the company's ongoing success.

The Bartender role at Shamin Hotels is a dynamic position situated within the Food and Beverage department. Reporting directly to the Bar Manager, bartenders play a crucial role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by professionally mixing, serving, and recommending beverages. This hourly, bi-weekly paid position requires a hands-on approach, including verifying age requirements to ensure compliance with legal drinking laws, managing inventory, processing payments accurately, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are customer-focused, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Bartenders at Shamin Hotels are responsible for setting up the bar before opening, ensuring all supplies such as fruit, garnishes, glassware, and cocktail napkins are in place to facilitate a smooth service flow. Their role goes beyond beverage preparation; bartenders are also tasked with enhancing sales through the correct display of products, attending promptly to guests with a welcoming attitude, and offering knowledge about daily specials and chef's offerings. They assist servers as needed, ensuring that guests not only receive quality drinks but also experience top-tier hospitality that encourages memorable visits.

The job involves handling cash and credit transactions securely, adhering strictly to company policies and legal requirements such as obtaining TIP certification within three months. Bartenders must use sound judgment in handling challenging situations, including preventing intoxicated guests from driving and refusing service to underage patrons in a courteous and professional manner. Regular cleaning duties, inventory management, and closing procedures are essential to maintaining the operational efficiency and hygiene standards of the bar.

In embracing the core values of Shamin Hotels — team up, own it, and passionately serve — bartenders become vital contributors to the hotel’s reputation for excellence. Teamwork, responsibility, and a sincere passion for guest satisfaction are pivotal traits. This role not only demands technical skills related to beverage service but also requires emotional intelligence and the ability to create lasting positive impressions on guests. Employees are encouraged to grow within the company, benefiting from a culture that values internal advancement and professional development.

Joining Shamin Hotels as a Bartender means becoming part of a respected hospitality group that offers endless opportunities for career growth, competitive compensation, and a welcoming environment where each team member’s efforts are recognized and rewarded. Whether you are an experienced bartender or seeking to build your hospitality career, Shamin Hotels provides a supportive platform to excel, learn, and contribute to a legacy of hospitality excellence.
