Job Description
New Orleans Paddlewheels is a distinguished and historic hospitality company famous for operating the authentic Paddlewheeler Creole Queen, an iconic symbol of New Orleans heritage and culture. Job Requirements
- Must be of legal age to serve liquor according to state law
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Must submit to random drug screenings as per US Coast Guard
- Ability to walk and stand for entire shift
- Ability to continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop, and wipe
- Ability to remain stationary for long periods
- Ability to frequently wash hands
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
- Must not have history of slipping or tripping hazards
- Must demonstrate integrity and honesty
- Willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to maintain self-composure and guest sensitivity under pressure
- Must have pride in personal appearance
Job Qualifications
- Pass Responsible Service of Alcohol Test with a score of 90% or better
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic mathematical skills, ability to handle money and give correct change
- Basic reading skills
- Basic computer skills
- Basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits and familiarity with standard drink recipes
- Organizational skills
- Multi-task oriented
- Knowledge of company’s food and beverage specifications
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
- Must meet US Coast Guard physical examination requirements
- State applicable health and/or alcohol compliance card
Job Duties
- Pass Responsible Service of Alcohol Test with a score of 90% or better
- Welcome each guest personally within 30 seconds
- Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone, and body language
- Work as a team with all company personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and efficient food and beverage service
- Keep all areas cleaned and stocked to company standards at all times
- Mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks following standard recipes
- Ring drink orders into computer immediately, collect money, and make change
- Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display
- Wash and sterilize stemware
- Offer assistance proactively to guests
- Count drinks guests are served
- Place current bar tabs in front of guests with each order
- Anticipate guests’ needs and follow the half-full rule when offering another drink
- Learn guests’ names, occupations, and favorite drinks
- Ensure responsible service of alcohol and seek management intervention as necessary
- Perform other duties as directed
