Job Description

The Saint Paul RiverCentre, located in the vibrant downtown area of St. Paul, serves as the city’s premier convention, special event, and entertainment venue. This expansive facility boasts over 250,000 square feet of adaptable event space characterized by its luminous and airy architectural design. As a central hub for conferences, performances, and large-scale gatherings, the RiverCentre is committed to delivering outstanding customer service and creating memorable experiences for all patrons. The venue is operated by Morrissey Hospitality, a company that manages nearly two dozen unique restaurant, hotel, and event concepts. Being a part of Morrissey Hospitality means joining a team that prioritizes collaboration, mutual support, and community involvement. Employees are valued not just as workers but as members of a close-knit group dedicated to exceptional experiences and genuine hospitality.

The Bartender position at the RiverCentre plays a vital role in maintaining the venue’s reputation for excellence. This role involves the skilled preparation and service of both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages in a professional and courteous manner. Bartenders are responsible for mixing drinks to standard recipes, serving wine, liquor, and beer according to precise departmental specifications, and presenting beverages attractively. Beyond drink preparation, the bartender ensures efficient bar operations by setting up, stocking, and breaking down bar areas, maintaining cleanliness, and organizing supplies diligently. The position requires constant interaction with guests, promoting positive recognition and building relationships by becoming familiar with regular patrons and VIP guests. An important aspect of the role is monitoring guest alcohol consumption to ensure safe service practices, refusing service when necessary, and verifying the legal drinking age where applicable.

This is a high-energy position within a bustling event environment, demanding strong multitasking abilities and excellent communication skills. Utilizing the Point-of-Sale system accurately is a critical responsibility, as bartenders process orders, maintain guest counts, verify sales, and collect payments efficiently. The role also encourages an aggressive approach to upselling, enhancing both customer satisfaction and venue revenue. The RiverCentre values continuous learning and development; bartenders assist in training new employees by providing positive reinforcement, constructive feedback, and guidance in a respectful manner.

Employment with Morrissey Hospitality offers more than just a job; it provides a pathway for career growth with generous pay, comprehensive benefits, and numerous training opportunities. The company’s commitment to employee well-being is reflected in its inclusive benefits package, which supports work-life balance and personal growth. With the position being unionized, employees benefit from structured working conditions, paid breaks, free meals during shifts, uniform provisions, and various types of leave including parenting, military, and medical leave. The bartender role at the RiverCentre is ideal for individuals with experience working in high-volume, fast-paced food and beverage settings, who thrive in a dynamic and social environment. Candidates must be adaptable, possess strong customer service skills, and demonstrate a commitment to responsible alcohol service. Morrissey Hospitality welcomes candidates ready to contribute to a team that values integrity, excellence, and a passion for hospitality.
