The Bartender position at Worcesterart is a part-time, non-exempt role offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $15.00 to $20.00. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the hospitality and events team by ensuring that all beverage service at events runs smoothly and professionally. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and breaking down the bar, preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes, and adhering strictly to legal requirements related to serving alcohol.

As a Bartender at Worcesterart, you will be expected to provide excellent customer service, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will manage cash and electronic payment transactions with accuracy and professionalism, maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area during events, and ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws. The role requires maintaining a current responsible alcohol service training certification from nationally recognized programs such as T.I.P.S., ServSafe Alcohol, or T.E.A.M. Due to the nature of the events hosted, evening and weekend work is required, offering flexibility and the opportunity to engage with a diverse community of guests in a lively and creative atmosphere.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year in similar position
  • Must maintain a current responsible alcohol service training certification from a nationally-recognized certification program (T.I.P.S., ServSafe Alcohol, T.E.A.M.)
  • Ability to operate cash register, portable credit card machine and handle cash transactions
  • Ability to read, write and use simple arithmetic
  • Evening and weekend work to support events

Job Duties

  • Set up bar for events providing a variety of alcohol, mixers and garnishes and break down bar at the end of events
  • Take and prepare orders for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages following standard recipes
  • Check identification of customers to ensure compliance with server laws
  • Record beverage sales, collect payment and make change for customers
  • Maintain, clean and restock the bar during and after events
  • Provide responsible service of alcoholic beverages and tactfully address situations with customers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
