The team at American Sardine Bar is currently expanding and looking to hire a Bartender/Server to join their experienced and passionate staff. This role requires versatility as it combines duties behind the bar and on the restaurant floor. As a Bartender, the candidate will need to demonstrate strong knowledge of craft beer, including the ability to confidently discuss the different varieties served, their origins, and the breweries behind them. The role also demands proficiency in preparing classic cocktails with a focus on consistency and attention to detail. As a Server, this position involves running a section of the dining area, taking food and drink orders from customers, running plates, and delivering full-service hospitality to guests.

Success in this position depends heavily on teamwork, as American Sardine Bar operates under a pooled-tip system. Candidates are expected to collaborate closely with other servers, bartenders, and support staff to ensure seamless service. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, adept at multitasking, and committed to maintaining high standards of service while engaging customers with a friendly and polished approach.

Shift scheduling primarily includes evening hours, with three or more shifts per week, including necessary availability on nights and weekends. The establishment remains active late into the evening, with the kitchen open until midnight and the bar until 2am, so flexibility and stamina are essential. New hires undergo a thorough 4 to 5-day training program designed to integrate them into the culture and operations of American Sardine Bar, followed by a 60-day probationary period during which they will receive continuous support from managers and trainers.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years bartending and serving experience in a high-volume restaurant or bar
  • Strong knowledge of craft beer and classic cocktails
  • Ability to multitask, move quickly, and stay organized
  • Comfortable balancing casual neighborhood service with polished product knowledge
  • Availability to work nights and weekends consistently
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs
  • Clear communicator and team-oriented
  • Genuine interest in hospitality
